This is the design page of Rigel Wachtmann.

The works shown here are explorations in design across multiple mediums, highlighting the beauty in natural materials while incorporating novel design cues.

I’ve enjoyed working with wood, metal, and stone, and gaining the skills to properly work these materials and combine them in novel ways. The underlying motivation behind each of these projects is to take an idea from conception to completion.

I’ve taught myself welding, woodworking, and basic stoneworking techniques in order to carry out designs. I look forward to filling the gaps in my knowledge by continuing to purse designs that combine different materials and techniques.

I am an engineer by trade, having completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a degree in Civil Engineering. I look forward to using these skills to complete more challenging and large scale future projects.

I’ve collaborated greatly with my brother Berkely on some of these works. We taught ourselves the basics, built a workshop, and shared a love of materials together.

In 2025, we exhibited Mixed Media pieces together at the 2025 Mystic Outdoor Art Festival in Mystic CT.
